labs test more bags of contaminated spinach
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention saidTuesday. Public health labs are continuing to test the spinach in the other two states.
Investigators have traced the E. coli outbreak to California based Natural Selection Foods, which supplies spinach to more than a dozen companies. Officials are still unsure as to how the bacteria came into contact with the food and are continuing their inspection of farms in the Salinas Valley region.
Officials have confirmed that the E. coli strain O157:H7 was present in the contaminated spinach. The O157:H7 strain, a deadly form of the bacteria, contaminatedwater in Walkerton, Ont., in 2000, killing seven people. An Ohio family has filed a lawsuit seeking at least $100,000 US in damages from Natural Selection Foods LLC. District Court, said Roger Drummond, Laura Snider and their three children became ill after eating packaged organic spinach salad in late August and early September.
Natural Selection Foods, has recall adidas trainers ed more than 30 products, including Dole, President’s Choice, Ready Pac, Trader Joe’s, Nature’s Basket and Premium Fresh, as a result of the outbreak.
Ontario’s Ministry of Health reported that an Ottawa Valley woman became ill with the same deadly strain adidas trainers of E. coli in early September after eating contaminated spinach. The woman, who has been released from hospital, is recovering at home.
